Checking + Body Contact
Our Checking + Body Contact sessions help players build the confidence and skills to safely and effectively play in contact situations. The focus isn't simply on "hitting," but on developing the techniques, habits, and decision-making needed to give and receive body contact while protecting the puck and winning battles.
Our curriculum focuses on:
- Safe and proper techniques for giving body contact
- Building confidence and habits for receiving body contact
- Puck protection using body positioning, edges, and leverage
- 1-on-1 battles along the boards and in open ice
- Angling, stick positioning, and closing space
- Winning loose puck races and contested puck situations
- Creating separation while maintaining puck possession
- Developing physical confidence without sacrificing hockey IQ
At EDG, our Body Contact Development Clinics teach players to embrace contact the right way—through proper technique, confidence, and smart decision-making.
Whether it's protecting a puck below the goal line, separating an opponent from possession, or winning a battle along the wall, body contact is now part of every shift. Players who are comfortable playing through contact make quicker decisions, protect themselves better, and become far more effective in game situations.

COSTS
$45 per skate | All sessions available a-la-carte
To participate in these sessions, players must be born in the 2013-2014 birth years
Space is limited to a maximum of 24 skaters to ensure a proper coach-player ratio for quality instruction.

All registrations are non-refundable. For cancelations made more than 24 hours in advance, we will issue a credit to your player's account to be used on a future purchase.
